Commuter Rail Operator: “We Have to Regain the Trust”

Gerald Francis, the new general manager at Keolis Boston, is hoping to build back confidence with commuters two days after taking over for his boss, former GM Thomas Mulligan.

"We're running extra trains to support our customers that are looking for the services," said Francis.

Mulligan stepped down Wednesday amid troubles at the company that operates the MBTA's commuter rail system.

Thursday, Massachusetts Department of Transportaion Secretary Stephanie Pollack expressed little confidence in the system.

"I'm a lifelong MBTA user, and if I have an early morning meeting with the governor, I will not take the commuter rail to get to that meeting anymore," she said.

"We have to regain the trust," said Francis.

Keolis' new leader said that he would take the commuter rail to get to an important meeting.
