Cruise Ship Stuck on Sandbar in Boston Harbor

A cruise ship that was stuck on a sandbar in Boston Harbor Saturday night was safely refloated Sunday morning.

Officials from Boston Harbor Cruises confirmed that the Majesty V had been stuck since before 7 p.m.

According to the U.S. Coast Guard, the ship ran aground near George's Island with 152 people on board.

At approximately 3:30 a.m., during high tide, a small crew aboard the Majesty was able to restore power and safely move the ship.

After refloating, the ship safely saled to Charlestown Pier 8 where it will be inspected by Coast Guard marine inspectors and investigation officers.

No one was injured, and the ship was not damaged. Coast Guard officials say the incident did not cause any pollution.

State police responded alongside the Coast Guard, and the Asteria, an MBTA ferry, was transporting the passengers and crew from the grounded ship.

Boston Harbor Cruises owns and operates the Majesty, and they are fully cooperating with the Coast Guard in the investigation.

The company's site describes the Majesty as "Boston's premiere charter veessel," noting that it is available as a wedding venue.
