Florida Man Found With Gunshot Wounds Dies

Police say the man was initially found in a wooded area by children

A Florida man found shot in some woods in Easton, Massachusetts, earlier this week has died, according to the district attorney's office.

Bristol DA's office says Daniel G. Smith, 35, a former Easton resident currently living in Florida died Friday night at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston after being found with a gunshot wound Tuesday afternoon by children.

State and local police are investigating his death and call it suspicious.

Smith was found by two boys while riding their bikes in a wooded area between Pond Street and Longwater Pond, according to police.

He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton before being transferred to Brigham & Women's, where he was in critical condition until his death.

Investigators are asking for the public's help with finding a red 2016 Mazda 3 sedan with Florida license plate number 372QQK that's believed to be connected to the case.

Anyone who sees this vehicle is asked to call Easton police at 508-230-3322 or state police at 508-717-4238.

The investigation is ongoing.
