Interstate Crime Spree Suspect Arraigned in Mass.

A Massachusetts man authorities say stabbed his relative, raped a woman, kidnapped both and drove them to Ohio was back in the Bay State for his arraignment Thursday.

Keven Blakemore, 21, was arrested on Aug. 23 in Pike County, Ohio. Authorities say the Boxborough resident stabbed a male relative five times before raping a woman. Both victims lived in the same Swanson Road home as Blakemore.

After the violent attacks, police say Blakemore forced them into a car and drove to Ohio.

Blakemore is charged with attempted murder, aggravated rape, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, armed robbery and mayhem. He also faces charges of kidnapping with sexual assault and kidnapping with serious bodily injury, both while armed.

The suspect was sent back to Massachusetts Wednesday evening. He was arraigned Thursday in Ayer District Court.

"This was a vicious crime," said Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan in a statement.

"This suspect's alleged actions are shocking, and we are very proud of the work done by our counterparts in Ohio and our Boxborough Police detectives who investigated this case," said Boxborough Police Chief Warren Ryder. "I am grateful that the suspect has been returned to Massachusetts and will face very serious charges."

Blakemore will appear in court for a dangerousness hearing on Sept. 11. Until then, he will be held without bail.
