Mailbox Blown Up by Homemade Bottle Bomb

Police and the Massachusetts Fire Marshal are investigating after a mailbox was blown up by a homemade bottle bomb in Hampshire County.

WWLP-TV reports that police say officers were called to Pelham around 8 a.m. Thursday for a report of a loud explosion.

Police found that a mailbox had been destroyed by a homemade bottle bomb. The State Hazardous Materials team was called in to make sure everything was safe.

Police say they believe it was an isolated incident. An investigation is underway.
