Motorcyclist Struck, Killed by Car in Swansea, Massachusetts

No foul play is suspected at this time

A Massachusetts motorcyclist was killed Sunday after being struck by a car in Swansea, according to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.

Authorities said police responded to the crash on Maple Avenue, south of Route 6, at about 3:30 p.m.

An initial investigation indicates that a Jamie Tavares, 44, of Swansea, was traveling south when he somehow collided with a Volkswagen Jetta travelling north.

The 52-year-old female driver of the Jetta was not hurt.

Authorities said Tavares was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The accident is being investigated by Swansea Police with assistance from State Police Detectives assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.

No foul play is suspected at this time.
