Vermont State Police say a New York man has died while swimming in Crystal Lake in Barton.
Police say 41-year-old Seth Parent, of New Windsor, was swimming with a family member on Thursday night when he started having what appeared to be a medical event. He was taken to shore, but was unresponsive.
The family member and bystanders fishing nearby called 911 and initiated CPR. Parent was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said the cause of death is suspected to be the result of a medical event, but is pending the results of an autopsy.
