Suspect in Girlfriend's Death Found Dead

A suspect who was sought for killing his girlfriend in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood has been found dead, authorities say.

A man who was sought for killing his girlfriend in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood has been found dead, authorities say.

According to police, the body of 30-year-old Paulo Rosa was found around 12:30 a.m. Sunday. The body was recovered from wooded area of I-195 eastbound, north of exit two near the Rehoboth and Swansea, Massachusetts, line.

The body of Rosa's girlfriend, identified by police Sunday as 33-year-old Audilia Da Veiga, was found after police received a call for a person shot shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday.

The cause and manner of Da Veiga's death have not yet been determined.

Her family is still trying to make sense of it.

"She's truly going to be missed, and I'm just devastated right now," said her brother. "My mom - she's kind of been crying ever since the news broke out."

"What we know is we can't get her back, and it's terrible," said cousin Susan Fernandes.

The couple had lived at 45 Bowdoin Street for at least three years. Da Veiga had a 5-year-old son and was taking care of another young boy.

Neighbors say the couple seemed happy, making the circumstances difficult for everyone to understand.

Police called the killing a result of domestic violence. A statewide manhunt was underway for Rosa when his body was found.

Boston Police and Massachusetts State Police are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call Boston Police Homicide detectives at 617-343-4470.
