Police: Teen Stabbed 4-Year-Old Boy

A young woman has been arrested for stabbing a 4-year-old boy Saturday in Boston.

Police responded just before 7 p.m. to 106 Paris Street in East Boston, where they say an 18-year-old woman had stabbed the boy. When officers arrived, they were told that the boy's father had taken him to the East Boston Health Center.

According to police, the suspect had locked herself in a bedroom after the attack. Police used a battering ram to get inside, where they say the teen was holding a 3-inch serrated blade.

When she refused to drop the weapon, police say they "engaged" her with a "department-issued less-lethal shotgun." After a violent struggle, in which police say the suspect wasn't injured any more than she already had been from the shotgun, she was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital.

Investigators say the suspect was in an argument with the child's father when she attacked the boy. She will face serious charges upon her release from the hospital.

The boy's stab wounds are considered non-life-threatening. He was treated at Boston Medical Center.

Because the case is domestic, police will not release the suspect's name.
