Tom Brady Benched as Patriots Lose Big

The Patriots star quarterback was replaced by Jimmy Garoppolo in the fourth quarter

The New England Patriots were crushed by the Kansas City Chiefs on a national stage Monday night, losing 41-14 in a game that wound up with quarterback Tom Brady sitting on the bench.

The game was never really close, as the Chiefs rolled to a 17-0 lead at the half, and continued piling on almost as soon as the second half started.

Brady struggled mightily, completing just 14 of 23 passes for 159 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. The Chiefs, meanwhile, racked up more than 200 yards rushing, as the Patriots defense struggled to contain running backs Jamal Charles and Knile Davis.

Brady was replaced at quarterback in the fourth quarter by rookie Jimmy Garoppolo, which is sure to spark discussion on talk radio this week about whether Brady is nearing the end of his Hall of Fame career.
