Twin Brother of Man Accused of Killing Auburn Police Officer Appears in Court

Giancarlo Zambro was supposed to appear in court for a pre-trail hearing this morning

The twin brother of the man accused of killing an Auburn, Massachusetts, police officer appeared in court on Thursday afternoon, after failing to show up earlier in the day.

The judge issued a warrant for his arrest after he did not show; the warrant has since been withdrawn.

According to the West Roxbury District Court Clerk's office, Giancarlo Zambro of Sutton was charged in 2014 with operating a motor vehicle without a license and larceny.

His case was continued without a finding on October 28, 2015, and he entered a plea deal but the case was dismissed.

Zambrano was ordered to pay $7,000 in restitution to a Jamaica Plain woman, but did not, so prosecutors put the case back on track for trial, according to the Suffolk district attorney.

He brought a check for $4,000, which brought him into compliance with the court's orders.

Giancarlo's twin, Jorge Zambrano, is accused of shooting and killing Auburn police officer Ronald Tarentino Jr. during a traffic stop early on May 22.

His twin brother was shot and killed by officers later that morning after he fired at police officers from an apartment complex and injured one state trooper.
