A woman was killed and three children injured when a car slammed into a tree in central Maine on Sunday afternoon.

Maine State Police said Aimee Lasco, 29, of Hartland, Maine, was killed instantly when her car slammed into a tree of Raymond Road in Palmyra around 2 p.m.

Three children in the car - two of them hers - suffered minor injuries and were found walking along the road when emergency personnel arrived. The children are 4, 5 and 7 years old. Police said the 7-year-old suffered the most serious injuries of any of the children - a fractured knee.

Lasco was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Police didn't say if the children were wearing seatbelts.
