    NEWSLETTERS

Today (Wednesday): Rain and snow diminishes as the day progresses. Highs in the mid 30s north to mid 40s south. Overnight Wednesday Night: Cloudy with light drizzle/snow. Lows in the mid to upper 20s. Thursday: Decreasing clouds give way to sunshine. Highs in the mid 40s south to upper 30s north. (Published Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017)

We saw two to six inches of snow fall across southern and central New Hampshire into southeast Maine overnight into this morning.

Less than one inch of rain fell across Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Widespread rain/snow moves offshore later today with drizzle/light snow remaining in place for the rest of the day.

Overall, a dreary, wet day is in store. Highs today will reach into the low to mid 30s north and the low 40s south. Drier air moves in across the region overnight as temperatures drop into the 20s. This will result in a changeover of most rain to wintry precipitation.

Any precipitation that falls will be light in nature as winds begin to flip to the northwest.  A weak cold front pushes across the North Country, bringing widespread clouds and mountain snow showers with light accumulations of one to two inches across northern New Hampshire and western Maine.

An area of high pressure noses into New England tomorrow as skies give way to sunshine. Highs will moderate into the low 40s south and mid 30s north. Friday features mostly sunny skies with high pressure cresting over the region with highs ranging from the mid 40s across southern New England to upper 30s across the north country.

High pressure remains in control for the start of the weekend as a system emerges off the Carolinas to our south. Skies will be partly cloudy with temperatures in the 40s.

Partly cloudy skies repeat again on Sunday with highs reaching into the 40s with upper 30s north.

Looking ahead to the work week, an area of low pressure currently located near the Aleutian peninsula may bring some precipitation to our area on Monday. We will be watching this system for additional changes.
