Trees, Power Lines Down in Chestnut Hill, Mass.

(NECN: Peter Howe, Newton, Mass.) - A giant tree went down in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts this morning, causing a total closure of Route 9 Westbound. The roadway has since reopened.

Also, on Lake Street in Brighton, Massachusetts, a tree went all the way across the road.

Officials are urging all residents to stay off the roads, whenever possible, to allow plows to do their jobs.

So far, there has been some pretty spectacular snow damage in the Boston area.
