1 Dead in Pickup Truck Crash, Speeding Away From N.H. Police

New Hampshire state police say a pickup truck speeding away from a police officer went off Route 114 in Weare and crashed, killing one of the three people inside.

Police said a New Boston Police Department officer attempted to stop the pickup early Friday for operating without tail lights on Route 114 northbound. The pickup didn't stop and a short time later, crashed off the southbound shoulder of the road.

The driver and the two passengers were ejected and suffered serious injuries. One person was declared dead at Concord Hospital.

Police have not released any names.

Police said their initial investigation reveals the pickup truck was attempting to elude the officer at a high rate of speed before crashing.
