$25K Worth of Spice Products Seized by New Hampshire Authorities

Police say the investigation started months before more than 50 spice overdoses were reported last month

New Hampshire authorities have seized over $25,000 worth of a synthetic drug known as spice from a business in Manchester.

Police said the investigation by multiple agencies started months before 50-plus spice overdoses reported in the city last month.

They said controlled buys of the spice products happened at two Spider Bite locations. Certain brands tested positive for illegal substances, so investigators applied for and were granted search warrants. They seized over 11 pounds of the synthetic marijuana, and $14,000 in cash.

The store owner has not been charged with a crime.

Last month, Gov. Maggie Hassan declared a state of emergency to allow public health officials to investigate and quarantine synthetic drugs linked to overdoses in Manchester and Concord.
