John Henry on Liverpool: ‘Proud and Humbled'

(NECN/CNN) - It has been a dramatic few days for Liverpool football club -- fans all around the world have watched with baited breath as court hearings on two continents have shaped the future of the storied club.

It has been tense and dramatic and littered with bad feeling and name calling, but it looks like it is all over.

The club chairman, Martin Broughton, and the owner of the Boston Red Sox, John Henry, have publicly shaken on a deal.

Mr. Henry is now the owner of Liverpool football club.

The $476 million sale of the English club to New England Sports Ventures, the owners of the Boston Red Sox, was finalized today in London. That came after Hicks and Gillett dropped a temporary restraining order blocking the sale obtained in a Texas court.

"It's too early to say what we are going to do, but we are here to win," said Henry. "We will do whatever is necessary."

"I am proud and humbled. We have a lot of work to do," said Henry.
