Star-studded Benefit Concert Draws Thousands to Boston

(NECN: Josh Brogadir, Boston) - Boston Strong concert, a show that hoped to raise millions for One Fund Boston, sold out in minutes and its web stream it provided for everyone not inside experienced major difficulties at the start Thursday.

Marathon survivors joined world renowned artists on stage at TD Garden for the Boston Strong concert.

Before the show, crowds showed off their Boston Strong gear, with hero Carlos Arredondo getting his due by the Orr statue.

Music fans are excited about raising money and getting to see an incredible lineup.

"It's something I don't think anyone will really experience (again). It's once in a lifetime, definitely," said Aerosmith fan Allison Hill of Dracut, Mass.

Even before that, a few of the musicians took to a much smaller stage inside the Garden to speak, including four members of the Dorchester-born New Kids On The block, Malden's own Extreme, and comedian Dane Cook, who is from Arlington.

They all gave their time, knowing what this is really all about.

"The meaning of tonight and the fact that we're all here for a common cause, for our home, it's going to add a really special feeling to it," said NKOTB's Donnie Wahlberg.

The live web stream did not work out as Live Nation had planned. It's unknown if that will impact the online giving the planners had been hoping for.
