A 66-year-old Hamden, Connecticut, woman has pleaded guilty to charges that she collected her dead mother's social security benefits for 30 years.

Sandra Kimbro entered a guilty plea Wednesday to one count of theft of public funds.

Prosecutors say she and her mother kept a joint bank account and despite her mother's death in 1984, her monthly Social Security payments continued to be deposited in that account.

Those payments totaled $160,457. Prosecutors say Kimbro described to bank employees how she was caring for her mother when she withdrew money from the account.

Kimbro faces up to 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 and a restitution order when she is sentenced on Feb. 11.
