PD: Trooper Injured When Cruiser Rear-Ended by OUI Driver

A Massachusetts state trooper has been taken to the hospital after his cruiser was struck by a driver suspected of being drunk.

A department spokesman says the trooper's cruiser was rear-ended by another vehicle at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday on Interstate 93 in Boston.

The trooper, who wasn't identified, was transported to Boston Medical Center for injuries not thought to be life-threatening. He is expected to return to work in a few days.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the cruiser, identified as 40-year-old Reginald Pyram of Roxbury, was determined to be impaired after allegedly blowing a .16, twice the legal limit, on a Breathalyzer test and was arrested.

He was ordered held on $5,000 cash bail and is due back in court on Dec. 15. It's unclear if he has an attorney.
