A Brown University student is suing the school in federal court after he was suspended nearly three years when another student filed a sexual-misconduct complaint.
The Providence Journal reports the suit states Brown violated the man's right to due process and discriminated against him based on his gender following an Oct. 11, 2014 incident.
The suit states he and a female student met at a party and became intimate at his dormitory. He says the university suspended him after the female filed a complaint and that board members failed to challenge or question her account. He says they also refused to let him present certain evidence and testimony.
University officials declined comment beyond what was contained in court filings and is asking the court to dismiss the suit.
