Suspect Sought After Family Cat Shot to Death

Police are searching for clues after a New Hampshire family's cat was shot to death.

Barry Fish told police his cat was wandering outside and returned to his Merrimack home on Oct. 22 with an apparent limp.

Fish says he and his wife took Max to a veterinarian, who informed them the feline had been shot. An X-ray showed the cat's leg bone had been shattered by a pellet.

Max's condition worsened over the next few days. After he passed out, the veterinarian told the couple Max would have to be euthanized. A second hole was also found in Max's chest, which proved to be fatal.

Police Sgt. Dennis Foley tells NH1 news several tips have come in. An investigation is ongoing.
