This year's headliners have not only been dominating the airwaves and other festivals, but they've all released new music within the last year. Fans can hear the latest material from Twenty One Pilots, Tame Impala and Travis Scott live.

Local acts: Boston Calling also includes several Massachusetts natives in its lineup. Singer-songwriter Sidney Gish is a Boston local, lo-fi artist Clairo is from Carlisle and actress and comedian Jenny Slate is a Milton native. Two local bands are also performing at the festival this year: indie rock band Pile originated in Boston, as did the band Guster.

If you want to get a good laugh, head to The Arena to catch local comedians and Saturday Night Live favorites performing live.

What's a music festival without an array of food to choose from? More than two dozen local eateries will cater to various tastes, diets and preferences. Whether you're vegan or a meat-lover, or simply prefer sweet over salty, there will be plenty of offerings to satisfy your cravings.

The Arena not only boasts comedians, but also a graceful performance by the Boston Ballet on Saturday and Sunday. You can also catch them earlier those days at the Green Stage.

Re-entry should be no problem at this year's Boston Calling. Concertgoers who want to leave the festival for a bit will be welcomed back in as long as they have their wristband on. Music festivals rarely allow fans to leave the scene and return later.

You can leave your debit and credit cards home and not have to worry about taking cash because this year's wristbands can take care of that! Those who register their wristbands have the option to go cashless and use their wristband at select vendors.

The JBL Dare to Listen Ferris Wheel returns this year and not only does it offer entertainment, it also offers concertgoers the chance to make a difference. Proceeds made from the ride will go to Music Drives Us, which aims to keep music programs in New England schools.

Don't want the party to stop once the headliners finish their set? Boston Calling is hosting after parties at The Sinclair each night of the festival. These late-night events include DJ sets from artists performing at the music festival earlier in the day.

Summer enjoyment is only just beginning after Memorial Day weekend and the fun doesn't have to stop once the festival does. The Boston Calling Block Party Series has returned to Dewey Square Park in Boston and will run through Aug. 29. The parties run every Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. Admission is free.
