Google Raises Turing Prize Stakes to $1 Million

The prize money for the computing "Nobel Prize" has been raised from $250,000 to $1 million thanks to Google, CNBC reported. "The Turing Award is now funded at the monetary level of the world's most prestigious cultural and scientific awards and prizes," Association for Computing Machinery President Alexander Wolf said in a release Thursday. By quadrupling the prize money, Google's vice president said his company hopes to raise awareness about people who have made fundamental contributions to computer science.
