Police in Massachusetts have identified a suspect who allegedly left graffiti outside of an elementary school.

According to police, a 17-year-old, of Burlington, Massachusetts, was questioned on Friday.

The suspect has not been arrested, but police say they may file criminal charges against him.

Police were called to Pine Glen Elementary School in Burlington on Thursday morning to investigate the incident. According to police, they found two examples of what were first thought to be incorrectly drawn swastikas on a stop sign and on the brick facade of the school building.

Other graffiti was also found on a door and refuse bin.

Police were able to identify the suspect using surveillance footage.

After investigating and questioning the suspect, police say they have determined the graffiti was not a swastika, but rather the logo of the hip-hop musical collective known as Pro Era. The logo, the numbers four and seven interwoven over a white circle and red background, has generated controversy for it resemblance to the Nazi flag.

Police found that the suspect has shared his affinity for Pro Era in social media posts.
