California's U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell spoke at "Politics & Eggs" in New Hampshire Monday morning.

Swalwell says he is considering a run for president. And though he is not on the A-list of announced candidates, the 36-year-old former prosecutor says he brings a fresh, new message while understanding the struggles of average Americans.

"I want to be a generational candidate that sees optimism from my generation, but pessimism in Washington, and I want to tear down that wall with a bridge to a new century," Salwell said.

On the campaign trail, Swalwell's biggest draw may be that he sits on two of the most powerful congressional committees investigating Donald Trump.

"I've punched back, I've stood firm, I know who our enemies are on the outside and I know what is hurting us the most when it comes to the rule of law on the inside and I'm ready," Swalwell said.

Swalwell is on the Hosue Judiciary Committee, which is where any House impeachment charges would begin, and teh House Intelligence Committee, which is investigating Trump's alleged ties to Russia as the country awaits the results of Robert Mueller's investigation.

Swalwell was asked if he expected a bombshell.

"Yes," he said. "I expect you're going to see that there has been criminal conduct by the administration to obstruct."

Swalwell will also be a questioner later this week in the closed-door House Intelligence Committee hearing with President Trump's former lawyer, Michael Cohen.

Swalwell assured voters he is not simply talking up a presidential bid to promote himself.

"I'm doing this because I think I can win. Not to sell a book, not for any other job," he said. "The sacrifice for your family is too great."

Swalwell says it will be weeks before he makes his final decision, but he promises to be back in the Granite State.
