Bangor, Maine, City Councilor Joe Baldacci, the brother of former Gov. John Baldacci, has filed papers to run for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. House of Representatives in Maine's 2nd District.
Baldacci filed the paperwork with the Federal Election Commission on Wednesday.
His entry into the race sets up a primary contest with Emily Cain.
The seat is currently held by Republican Bruce Poliquin.
On his website, Baldacci touts his Maine roots and the fact he is a small business owner. He is a lawyer.
He says the district's "current leadership is more concerned with ideology, special interest, and Wall Street values than representing the people."
A Cain spokesman welcomes Baldacci to the race. A Poliquin spokesman had no comment.
