The heat wave that has lasted a week in some parts of New England is nearly done, but not quite yet.

Thursday is another hot, very humid day all across New England with highs in the 90s. The only spots that hold in the 80s will be areas along the South Coast, courtesy of a southwestern wind blowing between 10 to 20 mph.

Most areas enjoy hazy sunshine during the day, but during the afternoon, a few isolated pop up storms or downpours will fire up in far Western and Northern New England, particularly Vermont and New Hampshire.

Friday brings more active weather and big changes.

The morning will still be quite humid and warm. An approaching cold front will trigger spotty morning showers in Southern New England, but in Northern New England a band of more organized downpours and thunderstorms will arrive.

That band of downpours and storms reaches the Worcester to Boston areas during the mid-morning and lunch hours.

It then continues south of town during the afternoon, finally clearing during the late afternoon and evening.

Once the rain moves through, the humidity will drop and the sun will come back out, making for a beautiful end to the day.

Spectacular weather continues into Saturday and Sunday with lots of sun, low humidity, and temperatures in the 70s and 80s.

Humidity creeps back by Tuesday of next week, with highs in the 80s to near 90 by then.
