(Amy Sinclair, NECN: Manchester, NH) - In Manchester, New Hampshire, they are celebrating the 50th anniversary of velcro at Velcro USA.
Velcro was invented by George de Mestral, who had an epiphany while pulling a burr from his dog's fur. He stuck with the idea and got a patent in 1952.
To mark the 50th anniversary of the trademark, the company staged a publicity stunt outside City Hall. They ripped pieces of their trademarked hook and loop fastener all the way back to the headquarters a mile and a half away.
NECN's Amy Sinclair has more.
