Vermont's largest utility is warning of likely outages as a winter storm bears down on the state, and is touting new high-tech ways to get and share information about them.

Green Mountain Power spokeswoman Dorothy Schnure says crews are especially focused on Addison and Rutland counties, which forecasters say could be hit hard by a storm that was expected to begin early Tuesday with snow followed by sleet and freezing drizzle.

Customers may report outages and get updates through GMP's text service or award winning app, as well as calling 1-888-835-4672, or visiting GMP's Outage Center page at www.greenmountainpower.com .

The app can be obtained by searching for GMP in the Apple App or Google Play store.
