Child Rape Suspect Returns to Mass.

Gregory Lewis likely to be arraigned Monday

A child rape suspect who police say cut off a GPS monitoring device and went on a cross-country crime spree before being captured has been returned to Massachusetts.

Massachusetts State Police and Southbridge police picked up Gregory Lewis from the Washington County Jail in New York on Friday.

Authorities say he is likely to be arraigned Monday.

The 26-year-old Southbridge native was released on $1,000 bail with GPS monitoring in August after pleading not guilty to raping a 13-year-oild girl.

Police say he cut off the tracking device in September and drove cross country, committing multiple crimes along the way.

Police allege he was returning to Massachusetts to kill the 13-year-old girl when he drove into the Hudson River in Fort Edward, New York, while fleeing police.
