A 14-year-old boy was airlifted after being hit by a car Sunday in Milford, Massachusetts.
Police are calling it a terrible accident. The boy was trying to cross at 83 East Main St.
He was taken by helicopter to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. There was no word Sunday night on his condition.
People living near the intersection of East Main Street and Plain Street say it's a dangerous road to cross.
"I'm not surprised," said Debbie Campbell. "We always tell the kids, 'Even though the light turns red, wait. Not all cars will stop, even when the light turns red.'"
Campbell says she's even notified police about her harrowing experiences trying to get across.
In addition to the traffic light, there is a light for pedestrians to cross and a walkway. But people who live in the area say drivers just need to slow down and stay alert.
