A 61-year-old man is in critical condition after driving his pickup truck into frigid water Wednesday afternoon in Fairhaven, Massachusetts.
Police responded just after 3 p.m. to Goulart Memorial Drive, where they found a Ford F-250 upside down in the water about 15 feet away.
Crews rushed into the water, 39 degrees and approximately seven feet deep, and cut the man's seat belt to free him.
Police returned to the water to make sure no one else was inside the truck, but were unable to stay in for long. A commercial diver went in and confirmed there were no other victims.
The driver was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in critical condition. His identity has not been released.
It was not immediately known what caused the crash.
