Cranston, Rhode Island, police say a woman has been arrested on a drunken driving charge after hitting a marked police cruiser early Saturday.

Police say an officer on routine patrol on Crescent Avenue just before 2 a.m. saw an oncoming car veering over the center line. The officer slowed down and moved to the right but the car collided head-on with his cruiser.

Police say the officer was treated for minor injuries. The other driver wasn't hurt.

Police say 33-year-old Amy Drumm of Cranston was charged with driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a chemical test. She appears in court Feb. 12. It's not immediately known if she has a lawyer.

It's the third time a Cranston police cruiser has been struck by an alleged drunken driver in recent months.
