(NECN) - Who knew modular homes could be luxurious? NECN's Beth Shelburne witnesses the lightning fast construction of one New England family's home.

One year ago, the Lee family was unhappy with their home. He and his wife Kristy started thinking about renovating their house. They decided to take their old house down to the ground and build a modular home on the land.

Before the big day, the owners threw a "Demolition Party" for their kids and friends.

The Lees ordered their modular home from a Pennsylvania company. They went modular not because of money, but because of time. The house was assembled like a puzzle - piece by piece.

Each box was about 85% complete on the inside when it was put together. Safety was paramount as each box was lined up by a crane and gently set down.

The family is now enjoying how roomy their new house is. All the amenities they were looking for in a home, are now available to them.

Modular was clearly the way to go.
